Why does Bellevue come up so often?

Offutt Air Force Base sits in Bellevue, so this is the most military connected community in the metro. A large share of the people who reach out from here are currently serving, married to someone who is, raising children inside that rhythm, or recently out and figuring out what comes next.

I served 27 years in the United States Army. That does not make me an insider to anyone's particular unit or mission, and I am not going to pretend otherwise. It does mean you will not spend the first three sessions explaining what a deployment cycle does to a household.

To be clear, I am an independent therapist in the area. I have no affiliation with, endorsement from, or contract with the base, the Air Force, the Department of Defense, or the VA.

What do people from here actually bring?

Often the ordinary weight of a life organised around someone else's schedule. Partners who have moved five times and stopped unpacking emotionally. Service members who function at a high level all day and cannot settle at night. Parents trying to explain an absence to a child without frightening them.

And frequently the thing nobody says out loud: worry about what asking for help might cost. I take that concern seriously rather than talking you out of it.

Is this only for military connected people?

No. Bellevue is a whole city, not a single population, and plenty of clients here have never worn a uniform and never will.

Anxiety, grief, a marriage that has gone quiet, a job that has hollowed you out. All of that is the work, whoever you are.

How do sessions run?

By video for Bellevue clients, with the in person option available at the Omaha office at [CONFIRM-ADDRESS]. There is no office in Bellevue.
