Omaha

Omaha is home, and it is the one place I meet clients face to face. The office is at [CONFIRM-ADDRESS], and you can also see me online from anywhere in Nebraska.

A warm, sunlit counselling room with soft chairs

Who tends to walk through the door here?

A lot of people who have been quietly holding a job together while something goes unaddressed underneath. Omaha runs on shift work, hospitals, freight, insurance floors, and a large military-connected population, and the common thread is people who are used to being the reliable one.

Some come because they served and want to talk to someone who does not need the context explained. Some come because a relationship has gone quiet in a way they cannot fix from inside it. Some come because they woke up at forty and did not recognise the life they had built.

Why does in person still matter to some people?

For certain conversations a room helps. There is no screen to hide behind, no temptation to take the session in a parked car between two obligations, and the hour is more clearly separated from the rest of the day.

That said, plenty of Omaha clients choose video anyway, and I do not treat that as a compromise. The drive across town in February is a real barrier, and removing it is sometimes the difference between going and not going.

What is the first conversation like?

Ordinary. You tell me what is going on in your own words, I ask questions, and neither of us pretends to have it solved by the end of the hour.

By the time we finish I want you to have a clear sense of whether this feels like a fit, and one or two things worth trying. If it is not a fit, I will say so plainly and point you somewhere more useful.

What do we actually work on?

Goals that are specific and achievable, set together, revised when they stop fitting. DBT is my primary method, which means practical skills for getting through hard moments, handling feelings that arrive at full volume, saying difficult things without wrecking the relationship, and being present in your own life.

The aim is the one DBT names: a life worth living, defined by you rather than by me.

Ready when you are.

Therapy starts with a conversation. Send a short message and tell me what is going on, in your own words. We meet in person in Omaha, and online across Nebraska and Rhode Island.
